1) What author do you own the most books by?
A.K. Applegate. I own the entire Animorphs series, so she wins by default based on pure volume.
2) What book do you own the most copies of?
Ella Enchanted – 3 copies. One paperback at home, one paperback for dorm/transit home, and one autographed hardback to cherish forever.
3) Did it bother you that both those questions ended with prepositions?
Nope. Dr. B and Judy Austen taught me that proper communication trumps proper grammar.
4) What fictional character are you secretly in love with?
Mr. Edward Fairfax Rochester.
5) What book(s) have you read the most times in your life?
Ella Enchanted, The Giver, and The Witch of Blackbird Pond. I probably read each of them once a year since middle school.
6) What was your favorite book when you were ten years old?
I was in love with the Dear America diaries and the Animorphs series.
7) What is the worst book you've read in the past year?
LOL! The Blonde Samurai! UGH! I’m embarrassed that I even considered lowering myself to read it.
8) What is the best book you've read in the past year?
The Time Traveler’s Wife. That book stayed with me for weeks.
9) If you could force everyone you tagged to read one book, what would it be?
Atonement. It will change the way you see “the truth”.
10) Who deserves to win the next Nobel Prize for literature?
Although she’s a Young Adult writer, I think Laurie Halse Anderson has tackled some tough issues with a unique and creative approach. She’s not a one-hit wonder.
11) What book would you most like to see made into a movie?
I’m actually thrilled to learn that Pride and Prejudice and Zombies will be made into a film! Especially since Natalie Portman is on board as Elizabeth Bennett!! I’m anxious to see that in theatres.
12) What book would you least like to see made into a movie?
Ella Enchanted was ungodly horrid. Ummm…I’d hate to see a Dorothy Parker or David Sedaris film because you’d lose their voice in translation.
13) Describe your weirdest dream involving a writer, book, or literary character.
I dreamt that I was discussing a PhD dissertation with some Shorter professors. All the professors had evolved into Alice in Wonderland characters and we were having a tea party in a tea-house.
14) What is the most lowbrow book you've read as an adult?
Pride and Petticoats (it was a gift!) and Twilight.
15) What is the most difficult book you've ever read?
Wicked. I’m going to reread it one day. I didn’t fully appreciate all the religious and political ideology. Too many terms and -isms were referenced without my complete understanding of their meaning and significance. The author has an EXTENSIVE vocabulary! I had a list of words to look up every night.
16) Shakespeare, Milton, or Chaucer?
Shakespeare.
17) Austen or Eliot?
Austen, but I haven’t experienced much Eliot.
18) What is the biggest or most embarrassing gap in your reading?
Not a lot of modern/post-modernist novels. No Orwell. I’ve read very few plays.
19) What is your favorite novel?
Jane Eyre.
20) Play?
Angels in America.
21) Short story?
OH!! “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson introduced me to amazingness of short fiction! Great beginner’s classic! “He noticed” by J. Robert Lennon showed me that less is not only more, but unlimited to the imagination.
22) Work of non-fiction?
The Nine – an intimate look inside the Supreme Court.
23) Who is your favorite writer?
Dorothy Parker!
24) Who is the most overrated writer alive today?
Stephenie Meyers for introducing the world to Twilight and the all the vampire-romance knock-offs.
25) What is your desert island book?
The Portable Dorothy Parker. Her poetry, short stories and bio would keep me pretty entertained.
26) And ... what are you reading right now?
The Other Boleyn Girl, Marie Antoinette, and The Cloud of Unknowing

Cora! I always enjoy reading your blog. Maybe we should start a book club this summer or at least swap good books to read. That would give us a good excuse to get coffee once a week ;)
